leadership ...

At the present time we are still officially St Mary's Low Harrogate. This means that we have the usual form of leadership customarily found in all Church of England parish churches - a Vicar, two Church Wardens and a Parochial Church Council (PCC). We expect this to change sometime in 2010 as St Mary's is likely to change status to become a Bishop's Mission Order.

What is a Bishop's Mission Order (BMO)?

A new opportunity in the Church of England allowing Bishops to issue a Mission Order where a church planting initiative would cross parish boundaries or involve collaboration between parishes.

The objectives of the BMO for this church are described as:

1) To enable Kairos Church to function in non-geographical missional network across parish boundaries developing and planting mission shaped communities (MSC)

2) To define the place that Kairos Church occupies in relation to inherited and other expressions of church in the Harrogate Deanery as one of mission partnership

3) To focus Kairos Church fully on its distinctive vision and calling

4) To ensure that the pastoral care/occasional offices that will be required in the Cold Bath Road/Harlow Hill areas of Harrogate are taken care of through pastoral reorganisation

Mark meets regularly with MSC and other functional team leaders in order to release them further.
