“If you make disciples you will grow the church.

If you make disciples who can make disciples you will build a movement.”

One of our greatest challenges as the 21st Century Church is how we mobilise a missional movement of disciples.  A discipling culture is the engine for long-term, sustainable mission.  What we desire is a discipleship culture lived-out in a missional context.

huddlePart of the call that God has given us at Kairos is to share what He’s taught us about this with others.   We are privileged to be able to connect with others across our Diocese and beyond, both Anglican and other denominations, as we share with each other some of the principles that we have found helpful in building a culture of discipleship and mission in our churches.

We run Workshop days, Coaching Huddles, Learning Communities and Leaders’ Lunches as various places to connect with us; details of upcoming events can be found below.  We have benefited a great deal from the input and investment we ourselves have received from 3DM Europe and we partner with them in the workshops we put on.

Upcoming Events

These Workshops are designed for anyone who wants to think through what discipleship and mission could look like in the 21st Century Church.

They are a day of teaching, interactive workshops, networking and a chance to hear how God is bringing transformation through Missional Communities of ordinary disciples.

You will hear the story of what God has done in and through our church and others, and the principles we have learned along the way.  There will be experienced Missional Leaders sharing their stories, and plenty of time to ask questions and interact with experienced practitioners.

An opportunity for Church and Ministry leaders to get together for worship, prayer, input and discussion on the areas of discipleship and mission. Upcoming dates are below. Please email us for more info.

Thursday 24th November, 11am – 2pm: flyer here

We will spend some time together thinking about how we adapt our practices and culture in order to follow the apostolic leading of the Holy Spirit, especially when people around us are slow to embrace change! There will be time to discuss and share together, reflect personally on what God is saying, and space for worship and ministry…and of course eat!

Discipleship is about imitating Jesus; both becoming like Jesus and doing the things Jesus did. In a Skype Coaching Huddle we will invest in you tools, practices and skills for imitating the life and ministry of Jesus.

These are tools which are simple, memorable and reproducible, allowing you to pass them on to generation after generation. Huddles happen once a fortnight and consist of a group of around 5 or 6 participants and happen over Skype. They are suitable for anyone involved in church leadership or who want to learn how to better disciple those around them.

networkAn opportunity to think and plan strategically for your church along with like-minded others.  The time together is spent around the 3 areas of What Is, What Could Be and What Will Be, and you come away with some 6 month goals based on a 2 year vision for what you want to see God do in your church. We have been part of a Learning Community as a church for a few years and find it incredibly helpful in helping us to move forward in the things God is speaking to us about and calling us to do. We want to offer that same opportunity to others.

So sorry this is so late but I hope to attend the leaders lunch tomorrow 21 June with Guy D-C and the Kairos team. I have another commitment in St Marks in the morning and will arrive as soon as I can. I hope my lateness will not affect things too much as I’m not looking to have lunch.
