A practice for Lent – Midday Prayer

I’d like to invite you to join with me and others in Kairos developing a practice of Midday prayer.

In the middle of the day (you can choose the exact time that works for you – perhaps just before you have lunch), Pause and pray.  If you have time and space use the Midday Prayer on the Lectio 365 app – it lasts about 5 minutes.

If you don’t have that amount of time, or aren’t so sure about using apps and tech, then be still for a moment and then pray the Lords Prayer.  ‘This prayer of Jesus has guided the midday prayers of God’s people dating all the way back to the Church’s origins. It teaches me a way of prayer in two distinct parts: the first gets me in on God’s world, the second gets God in on my world.’*

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen.
