The Kairos Fairfax Community have produced a short community survey, in order to get a better idea of the opportunities and needs in the area. They’d love to know what you think.
Complete the survey online or you could also return your survey on Sunday 15 August between 2.30pm and 4.00pm, when we’ll be outside the Community Centre with Resurrection Bikes who have some childrens’ bikes to give away. It would be great to see you.
(Children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult to claim a bike.)
As a thank you for sharing your thoughts with us 4 of the completed surveys will each receive a voucher for £15 from Drake’s Fish & Chips.
Thanks. The Fairfax Community.
This message is to explain some of the measures that will be in place over the summer so that we can enjoy gathering together as safely as possible. As you know, the government lifted many covid guidelines on July 19th. We want to make the most of the opportunities this offers but remain caring of each other.
We’ve been reading Philippians in our daily prayers this week. I love Paul’s advice: ‘Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others too.’ Phil 2:4 (NLT). I want us to put that into practice as we interact with people over the summer.
While some of us can’t wait to get back to meeting in large groups, others of us will be nervous. Some of us may have both vaccines, others have not. We need to find ways to welcome and make space for each other generously, and with care.
Do I still have to wear a mask? Government guidance states “it expects and recommends that masks are worn in enclosed and crowded spaces where you may come into contact with people you do not normally meet”. The space in the hall can quite easily start to feel crowded, therefore, we are asking people to continue to wear a mask indoors unless exempt over this summer period.
Can we sing at services now? YES! We are excited to sing together again but do ask that masks continue to be worn.
Do I still need to book to come to an in-person gathering? Yes, this will help us to manage our building capacity while everyone adjusts to the easing of restrictions. For the time being we are going to cap events at the hall at 40 people. We will continue to share booking links on emails, the website and Facebook page. You can also book using the church calendar or by contacting Rachel in the office.
What will the seating be like at the in-person gatherings? Where possible seating will be spaced at 1m+.
Will there be any changes to Holy Communion? When communion is part of the gathering it will continue to be in one kind (bread) only.
Can we use the toilets? Yes, the toilets are open for use as usual.
Can we socialise around the gatherings? There will be opportunities to connect with each other outside before and after the gatherings. We are going to start serving drinks at 10:45am before the Summer Central Gatherings.
Are there any other Covid measures still in place? We will continue to ventilate the building well and provide hand sanitiser on arrival.
When might the restrictions be lifted further? We will continue to review the situation monthly and provide further updates as we move forward.
If you lead a Kairos Community or other form of group I would encourage you to apply these principles when you meet. As ever Rachel, Jen and myself can continue to help you with advice about specific events, risk assessments etc.
God bless you! Ben.
