With the help of some binoculars, a magnifying glass and a lightbulb, Ben asked us, how do we perceive or understand the risen Jesus? On Sunday 15th March, we continued our series of Lent reflections, looking at the theme of wisdom. In a culture that prioritises physical health, Paul encouraged us to pay attention to our spiritual wellbeing too. Take a step away from the busyness and noise to consider, what are we listening to? What are the influences shaping or forming us? Is there space to hear the words of Jesus? How can we put the words of Jesus into practice? On Sunday 15th February, we welcomed baby Elijah and celebrated his baptism, reading the story of his biblical namesake in 1 Kings 19:11-13. We also looked ahead to Lent which begins this week. We will be exploring the wisdom of the Desert Fathers and Mothers throughout this season. Ben encouraged us, ‘Devote yourselves to prayer’ (Colossians 4:2), to seek God who loves us, and to share the wisdom and hope we discover with others. The talk ends with a blessing by Jan Richardson. On Sunday 18th January, Sarah B continued our series of reflections on our values. We read some of Abram’s story (Genesis 12:1-9). Sarah encouraged us to make space to be attentive to God, considered some of the barriers to saying yes to God, and invited us to get ready to respond with our ‘yes’ as we discern God’s call.
